The Gobbler Gallop is Saturday!

10/18/2025 11:11 am

Please come by the cafeteria after school this Wednesday (early-release!) from 1-2:30pm or Friday from 4-6pm to pick up your race day t-shirt!

Race Day FAQs:

  • Where does the race start? The races will begin on Waynewood Boulevard just in front of the school bus loop and will end on the field behind the school.

  • What time should we arrive? Warm ups start at 7:45am on the blacktop! Competitive races begin at 8am, followed by the family run at 8:30am.

  • Should we drive? Please plan to walk/ride to the school as the school parking lot will be closed.

  • What should I wear? The weather looks good, but it may be chilly! Please dress appropriately and consider gloves to keep little hands warm. The Gallop is on, rain or shine!

  • Can we bring our dog? We love dogs but please leave pets at home. No animals allowed on school property.

  • Are there prizes? Once all races are complete, we will announce the winners from each of the competitive races and draw names for the popular raffle prizes – you must be present to win! The top two male and top two female runners with the best time in each race will receive the coveted turkeys.

  • What are this year’s prizes? New, sweet prizes this year! You must be present to win.

  • Where can I cheer on runners? Yes! Please check out the race day map to find spots to cheer.

  • I forgot to register. Can I still run? Registration is open here for anyone who missed the deadline! Please note that t-shirts will not be given to late registrants.

Good luck to all runners! See you on Saturday!

Winter Enrichment: Group Piano Lessons Coming to Waynewood!!

10/1/2025 7:45 am

PianoLab is excited to offer Group Piano Classes at Waynewood Elementary this winter! The 6-Week Piano JumpStart Program will run on Thursdays from 4:15 pm - 5:15 pm from January 14 to Feb 18. Cost is $125 per student. (Full scholarships available.) This is the perfect way to get your student's musical journey started with fun and friends. Please visit our website for details and to register for the program. Space is limited!

Volunteers
We’d love a few parent volunteers to help make the lessons run smoothly. Ideally, we’ll have 1–2 volunteers each afternoon from 4:05-5:05 p.m. You’ll help kids get in the door for our 4:05 start and assist Marilyn, the head instructor, as needed. At least one helper is needed each day, and two is even better! Please click here to volunteer!
Volunteers should arrive at 4:05 p.m and check in at the office with your photo ID. Volunteers must be registered with FCPS before helping. If you haven’t registered yet, you can do so here: https://www.fcps.edu/volunteers
Thank you for helping this program get off the ground!
