Fall 2024 Workday Schedule

All workdays are after school from 4 to 5:30pm.

Friday September 20th

 

2023-2024 Projects and Programs

  • Install Little Library!  Looking for a family or group that can assemble and install the Little Library!
  • Install compost area signs (volunteers requested!)
  • Install fencing or edging around the shade & pollinator bed.
  • Continue removing the landscape fabric in the pumpkin patch area.
  • Continuation of the Garden Club enrichment program
  • Author and Illustrator will visit with Grade K-3 on Wednesday May 1st.

2022 – 2023 Projects and Programs

  • Planted produce donated by Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture. The Waynewood Elementary School Garden Club harvested & donated produce to United Communities food bank & to Groveton Baptist’s weekly food distribution.
  • Constructed two compost holding bins with funds awarded to SEEDs from a Community Forklift grant.
  • Repaired damaged raised beds.
  • Installed signs in the pollinator bed.
  • Pruned the trees & bushes.
  • Spread 20+ cubic yards of mulch in the courtyard & throughout the school grounds.
  • Prepared the progressive pumpkin patch.
  • Organized the sheds.
  • Provided supplies to teachers to make grade-level raised bed signs.
  • WEEDED!!

 

Programs offered:

  • The PTA Enrichment Committee was able to offer the Waynewood Garden Club.
  • Hosted hot chocolate in the courtyard during the bookfair.
  • Hosted Grade-level planting activity with Juan Pablo Echeverria, Outreach & Education Manager at Arcadia Farm.
  • Hosted Kindergarten basil seed planting & garden lesson also with Juan Pablo Echeverria.
  • Began collecting compostable items like apple cores & banana peels from students during lunch.
  • Hosted a chicken party with Mrs. Hanson & Courtney Nelson’s chickens.
  • Author Flora Ahn shared her book A Spoonful of Time.
  • Hosted a monthly Garden Club of Waynewood weeding & social workday.
