We welcome Author and Illustrator Cazzy Zuhursky to visit with our K-3 grades on May 1st.

Want to get even more involved in our PTA next year?

We are looking for volunteers to create new committees and fill existing committee chair positions for next year. If you are interested in Social Media or Marketing or have good computer skills, we can use your help with communications and the website. If you are interested in helping plan our Back to School events, we could use a small group to help coordinate those. Reach out to president@waynewoodpta.org for more information.

Purple Up! to Support our Military Families

April gives us an opportunity to recognize and honor the service of military children. In 1986, then Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger designated April as the Month of the Military Child to remind us of the significant role military children play in our communities and nation, and to give our country the opportunity to celebrate them.

In 2011, Operation Military Kids started the “Purple Up! For Military kids” initiative that is now celebrated nationwide and on military installations across the world.

Why Purple?

Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, as it combined Army green, Marine red, and Coast Guard, Air Force and Navy blue. Wearing purple lets military youth visibly witness the support of their communities.

SEEDs Author Event - Pre-Order Signed Books

We are excited to welcome author Cazzy Zuhursky to Waynewood ES for an assembly for K-3 on Wednesday May 1st at 3pm.

Cazzy Zahursky is a wife and mother to two daughters and a lively Australian Shepherd. She sees life as a source of inspiration for children's book concepts, often popping up unexpectedly. When she is not drawing or writing, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling, volunteering at her children's schools, and staying active. She is a firm believer that all children have the potential to develop a love for reading, as long as they find the right book. Cazzy also believes in the magic of storytelling, using her words and illustrations to transport young readers into fantastical worlds within the itty-bitty confines of a book.

As a mother of two, and avid reader, and an author and illustrator, it is an absolute pleasure for her to get a chance to visit our school. Hopefully, our students will return home after the assembly excited about reading and inspired to explore their own creative potential.

If you are interested in pre-ordering any autographed, school visit discounted books for them to receive during her visit, please order them here by Monday April 29th.

The PTA will use the funds & points obtained through the programs listed below to directly benefit our children & our school. The funds allow the PTA to provide a variety of things (field trips, assemblies, books, etc.), while the points help to purchase much needed supplies (for art, PE, classrooms, etc.).
